Players need no account and Kaizen Launcher collects no personal data; only the optional owner space uses a Discord sign-in. Here is exactly what goes where, and why.
The launcher
- No account and no personal data: no name, no email address, no Steam ID is sent.
- On install, the launcher draws a random 32-character identifier, tied neither to you nor to your PC (install-id file in %APPDATA%\fr.kaizen-dayz.launcher). It sends it with its server list requests. The Kaizen directory only keeps a fingerprint of it (salted hash), with the first and last visit dates and the launcher version, to count active users. A fingerprint unseen for 90 days is erased, and deleting the install-id file is enough to start over.
- The directory does not record your IP address: it is only used, in memory, to limit the number of requests (apart from the web server’s technical logs, see below).
- Settings, favorites, history and playtime stay on your PC. The server passwords you choose to remember are stored in the Windows Credential Manager.
- The launcher checks for updates on launcher.kaizen-dayz.fr at startup, then every hour.
- Sponsored places: for servers that paid for their placement only, the launcher counts how often their card is shown, their details opened and a game started from the place, then sends these totals every 5 minutes with the installation identifier. The identifier is only used, in memory, to count one view per day; only totals per server and per day are kept, for their owners’ statistics.
- Reporting a server profile sends the reason and the text you write, with the installation identifier to limit abuse.
The services it uses
- DayZ servers: to show the ping and players, the launcher queries the servers directly, like the game. Their owners see your IP address, as when you play.
- Steam: mods are downloaded by the Steam client installed on your PC (Workshop), and their names are asked from Steam’s public API.
- Discord: if Discord is running, your profile shows the server you play on, with a "Join" button (Discord presence). On by default, it can be turned off in the launcher’s Settings.
This website
- No cookies, no audience measurement, no trackers and no external resources: fonts and images are served by this site.
- Downloads: to count one download per person per day, the IP address is turned into a fingerprint with a key drawn at random every day, kept in memory then forgotten. Only the number of downloads per day is kept.
- Like any web server, the server keeps technical logs (IP address, requested address, date) for its security and operation. They are used for nothing else.
What we do not do
- No targeted advertising, no selling or sharing of data with third parties.
Owner space
- Discord sign-in: we only receive your Discord id, username and avatar. No Discord token is kept.
- A 30-day session cookie keeps you signed in, and only its fingerprint is stored; another cookie remembers the language you chose.
- RCON claims: the password is used for a single connection to your server and is never stored.
- Your server's profile (texts, tags, links, approved images) is public: it shows in the launcher and on its "Join" pages.
- A server missing from the list for 15 days loses its images, for 3 months its profile and its claim. To delete your account and your data, write to us on Discord.
Shop: orders and payments
- For each order, we record your account (Discord ID and username), the server, the place and days bought, the amount, the PayPal order and payment IDs, and the billing name and address if you give them (required for a company or an association).
- Payment is handled by PayPal (PayPal (Europe) S.à r.l. et Cie, S.C.A., Luxembourg), which processes your payment data under its own privacy policy: we never see your card number or your PayPal credentials.
- This data is used to perform your order (the contract), to issue invoices and credit notes and to keep the accounts (legal obligation). Invoices, credit notes and accounting records are kept for 10 years (article L123-22 of the French Commercial Code), even if you delete your account.
- If you withdraw, we record the date, the days cancelled, the amount refunded, your name and the contact email if you give one, for the acknowledgement of receipt.
- The service's data is hosted in France by OVH. A backup copy, encrypted before it is sent and so unreadable by the host, is kept on Google Drive.
- You can ask to access, correct or erase your data (except the accounting records that must be kept) by writing to contact@kaizen-dayz.fr, and complain to the CNIL (cnil.fr) if you disagree.
